A special anointing will often be accompanied by a

small preview of what will come in the future.

When something extraordinary takes place in our lives once or twice, it could be a preview of what is to come. Anointings are being loosened on the earth right now, including some that have never been seen before. Keep your eyes open. How many have abandoned their mantles? How many never accepted them? How many mantles—for music and teaching, for the apostle and prophet, for politics, worship, and spiritual warfare—are waiting for God’s people to take them? How many anointed men and women with powerful mantles are on earth right now but do not have spiritual children who serve that mantle in preparation to inherit it later?

With these questions in mind, now is a good time to clarify that we will never wear a new mantle until we let go of the old capes of religion and tradition. If we are not ready to get rid of the old, we will not be ready to receive the new mantle.

And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off.

(1 Samuel 17:39)

Saul placed his armor on David before he faced Goliath, but it did not work because it was too heavy, making it impossible for David to move under its weight. Saul’s armor symbolized the old, the traditional, and the religious—the old that many of us are used to wearing. Unlike David, who immediately removed the armor, we walk with religion and self-effort, even if we hate it and find it unproductive.

Sometimes, God allows us to experience a season of feeling burned-out, a season in which nothing happens, in order to help us remove the old mantle and receive a new one. In these cases, we may perceive in our spirits that there is something more, but we have no idea how to receive it. Other times, it causes frustration, desperation, or dissatisfaction to make us seek His face and thereby allow Him to give us the new mantle. This will not be an easy task because God has not called us to do anything easy. Therefore, we must be prepared to pay the price.

What Are the Consequences of Judging or Refusing a Mantle?

The Word teaches that we will receive a mantle the same way we receive a gift. If we do not respect it—if we criticize it, judge it, or reject it—we will not receive it.

He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward.(Matthew 10:41)

The moment someone speaks badly about the mantle or anointing of a man of God, he schedules the funeral for his own mantle. The person who betrays a prophetic mantle will never again flow in the prophetic mantle. Likewise, the person who betrays the apostolic mantle will never again flow in the apostolic anointing.

What happened to the apostle Paul? He lived in Corinth for three and a half years. He taught, imparted, and gave his life for the people.
